"The Martha's Vineyard Mini Maker's Faire, sponsored by the Martha's Vineyard Library Association, is dedicated to fostering a culture of creativity and innovation. This event will provide an exciting venue to allow local makers to showcase and share their passions with our Island community." Including us!
On May 7th, we are looking forward to showing -- and demonstrating-- what quilting looks like in 2016. HEXIES will be our focus. Why hexes? Because today hexies are back! The hexagon pattern, introduced in the 1920's in the "Grandmother's Flower Garden" quilt, was the most popular quilt pattern of the 1920's and 1930's. Today, with many modern twists (including simpler construction, improved templates), the hexie pattern is having a resurgence, and we are looking forward to sharing HEXIES with 'maker-minded' friends. We hope you will be able to join us on for an hour or two and help out at our 'table.' See you on May 7th! You can contact Katherine HERE to sign up. |
* The Mini Maker Faire is organized by librarians from the six Vineyard libraries under the umbrella of the Martha's Vineyard Library Association with initial support from area businesses and community groups, including the Martha's Vineyard Museum, Featherstone Center for the Arts and MV Community Services. With a combined mission to foster a culture of creativity and innovation, this event will provide an exciting venue to allow local makers to showcase and share their passions with our Island community.
