![]() Monday, September 8th: Organizational Gathering
7 to 8:30 pm, West Tisbury Library, Conference Rooms on lower level Bring a project you are working on -- or help us cut fabric squares for our first charity quilt project -- iSpy quilts! If you have child-friendly fabric to donate, please bring it. That said, we know that it is summer, and it is not possible for many Members to participate in Monday evening gatherings. Click HERE to see the iSpy timeline and/or click HERE to see the patterns. Thursday, August 21st to 24th: Kick-Off at the Ag Fair The official kick-off of the MV Modern Quilt Guild will be at the Ag Fair where we will have a table in the Fiber Tent. We hope that quilters who have not heard about us, or made it to a 'gathering,' will (naturally) drop by the Fiber tent and find one of us underneath a banner of our logo. We will have information available for potential members. [A note for Founding Members: we will be looking for members to volunteer.] Please check back for details. Wednesday, August 27th: Workshop by Mary Ruth Flores (a Founding Member) 1 to 4 pm, Oak Bluffs Library, Project Room on lower level Mary-Ruth will be teaching us to make a "Twisty Thread Catcher" using fat quarters. This is a packable scrap container for your thread cut offs, and other small soft items, that you can take to Guild meetings, Bees, Classes or anywhere. The kit fee is $5. All you need to bring is a thread scissor (and $5). Third week in September: First 'official' Monthly Business Meeting: The first monthly business meeting will be held during the third week in September in the WT Library from 7 to 8:30 pm. Please check back on August 30th for more information. [We apologize for not having a firm date yet.] Beginning in October: We will transition from weekly "Gatherings" to weekly "Quilting Studios." We plan to sponsor weekly "Quilting Studios" where members can have the space and time (a two hour block of time) to work on independent quilt projectsshare, get input, contribute, work and learn together. These meetings are tentatively scheduled for Monday evenings, from 7 to 8:30pm at the West Tisbury Library. Click HERE for the list of topics suggested by Founding Members Monthly Bees: From September through May, we have reserved the Project Room of the Oak Bluffs Library from 12:30 to 3:30 pm.
